The first 2/3 of this show were pretty decent overall, especially if you enjoy wuxia-style medical/alchemist type stories. The cast was good and the plot, though cliche, was interesting enough. During the last 1/3, however, the plot holes, excessive pathos, contrived melodrama, and over the top acting ruined YunXi is naturally talented in medical science and proficient in traditional medicine, but suffers from the jealousy and avoidance of others. By a stroke of fate, she marries the Duke of Qin, Long Fei Ye, and becomes embroiled in the changing politics of the imperial court. Iwas in awe when I watched the first episode and I was completely hooked by the second. Legend of Yun Xi was really enjoyable and the amazing cast was a cherry on top. The main leads were adorable together and the story was quite interesting as well; the sad part was the ending which I guess was inevitable and you should prepare yourself for it. The story follows a lady doctor called Han Yun Xi, who marries into the royal family and gets caught in the political machinations in the palace whilst she falls into a romance with her husband. H5 Ffcredit. Legend Of Yun Xi 芞汐䌠 is a Chinese costume drama that was released quite some time back in 2018. I would have missed it if not for the news about The Blooms At Ruyi Pavilion which will star the same male and female leads. I know many fans are excitedly looking forward to their new drama and this got me interested to see what the hype is all about. Whether the interest has been worthwhile is reflected in my Legend of Yun Xi review below. To cut a long story short, I would say that I wouldn’t mind watching them being cast together again. What is his personal agenda?Legend Of Yun Xi Ending Spoilers Alert! After sitting through 48 episodes of Legend Of Yun Xi, you will come to an ending that is open to your own interpretation. I see it as neither particularly happy or sad because some things are left unexplained. The storyline is clear that Yun Xi has to sacrifice herself to cure Fei Ye’s Gu Poison. What is needed is the blood from her heart. So, she begged Qi Shao to help her with the cure before she killed herself. The viewers are led to believe that she died despite her magical bangle glowing when she took her last breath. There is also a scene that shows Qi Shao trying to call out to her in his semi-conscious state when a woman appears to take away the magical bangle in his possession after Yun Xi’s the same time, viewers are shown how Fei Ye and Qi Shao miss and mourn Yun Xi. In the last scene, the timeline should be more than a year after Yun Xi’s death. Fei Ye is recollecting his time with Yun Xi. Suddenly, he sees her in the garden and goes over to hug her
and the drama ends! If Yun Xi is supposed to live, we are not told exactly how she stayed alive and where she had been. Since Fei Ye is also shown thinking about Yun Xi in the last scene, it could also be interpreted as him dreaming or hallucinating since his feelings for her is so strong. Hence, the ending is open-ended in that way. You can check out my Legend Of Yun Xi episode summary for more Fei Ye Is After The Poison MasterFei Ye is actually a prince of the fallen state of Qin Xi. Qi Shao hates his father for the poor treatment accorded to him and his mother who was a palace Of Yun Xi Review – Kind Of PredictableThe way the story is told in Legend Of Yun Xi is that the characters’ background is revealed bit by bit. In the early parts of the drama, we see Fei Ye as a prince of Tian Ning before his back story is peeled off layer by layer as the drama progresses. So, as you watch episode after episode, you can kind of guess what is going to happen next. It is not hard to figure out who Fei Ye is or who is Yun Xi’s real father. It is not the type of drama that is suspenseful in that Romance Is LackingI know many people look forward to watch Legend Of Yun Xi for the romance. But this is not a drama that is particularly heavy on the romance side of things either. Yes, the 2 main characters fall in love but for the most part of the drama, they are either cold towards each other or apart. Of course, there is a good reason for it but if you are hoping for a lot of lovey-dovey scenes like those in The Love By Hypnotic, you will be in for a disappointment. I think Yun Xi spends just as much time, if not more, with Qi Shao as with Fei Ye. Personally, I feel they should have done more to develop the relationship between Yun Xi and Fei Ye so that viewers will be more emotionally invested in their love chemistry between Zhang Zhe Han and Ju Jing Yi is palpable which is partly why I suppose viewers are giving Legend Of Yun Xi fairly positive reviews. I have no complaints there but Zhang Zhe Han’s acting could have been better. I know it is not easy to act as a stern and distant royalty and military commander but I think Allen Ren did it quite well in Under The Power. Fei Ye’s character lacks depth in Zhang Zhe Han’s portrayal that it looks a little too superficial. I think I like him better in the modern drama, Everyone Wants To Meet You. At least, he shows more emotions there with better It For Yalkun Merxat And The PlotIf there is one good reason to watch Legend Of Yun Xi, it would be Qi Shao’s character. He can appear cold and evil with his foes but he can also be warm and endearing with Yun Xi. He speaks with his eyes and smiles. In fact, I like his character and Yalkun Merxat’s portrayal better than Fei Ye and Zhang Zhe Han’s other reason that got me to continue watching is how Fei Ye will defeat Tian Ning’s Emperor and whether he will be cured. Although most aspects of the drama are predictable, the storyline is still pretty interesting with the poison zombie angle being an important element that glues everything together. You can guess that there will be a battle between Fei Ye and Emperor Tian Hui Di in the end. You can also predict that Yun Xi would want to save Fei Ye. But as the story builds up, the motivation is there to plough on to see how the ending will be presented to the VerdictI’m not particularly fond of open endings. That is why for this Legend Of Yun Xi review, I have only given it a 7/10 rating. I don’t mind a sad ending if it fits the story because a forced happy ending would just make it unsatisfying as the drama closes. It also doesn’t have a compelling a story as Love And Destiny or The Untamed but it is still a watchable production given its interesting you like palace political machinations and power struggles, then Legend Of Yun Xi is for you. The poison zombie story also makes it a little different from the standard fare. The romance is there and is an important component to the whole plot but it is not the most attractive part of the drama for me. As I have mentioned, if the screenwriters had invested more effort into the romance, Legend Of Yun Xi could have turned out better. Viewers would then feel moved with Yun Xi’s sacrifice which is the climax of the story. But as it is, it is still worthwhile to give this drama a go. Just don’t put too high hopes on the romance part and a highly satisfactory ending if that is what you are looking for. Han Yun Xi Ju Jing Yi enters an arranged marriage with the king’s brother Long Fei Ye Zhang Zhe Han. Although they start out as distant strangers, they grow to respect and love one another as Han Yun Xi uses her skills as a poison expert to help her husband navigate the machinations of the court. This manor is mine. And you are, of Yun Xi Let it be said that I adore the enemies/strangers to lovers tropes. I do. When it’s well done. But you see this quote up there? Yeah? Yeah. A Good Start There was a lot of potential in Legend of Yun Xi. The arranged marriage clichĂ© can be exceedingly charming when done well, and the lighthearted atmosphere of the show could have worked really well. Alas, the script persisted in going for the bad rather than the good, and by the time I got to midpoint of Legend of Yun Xi, I was cringing more often than not. Let me explain. While the first few episodes started out rather well with a determined heroine who, instead of going to her arranged marriage like a lamb to slaughter, has her own agenda and a male protagonist the very definition of stoic badass, Legend of Yun Xi quickly ended up resorting to eternal clichĂ©s and abusive relationships. How? Simple. Down We Go Let’s start with the main romance. While the male lead does show on occasion that he cares for his wife, the numerous occurrences of him just expecting her to serve him like some glorified slave, saying that she belongs to him, locking her up in her rooms, and so on just made me cringe so hard it was horrifying. His noble idiot moment, which we’re supposed to believe happens because he wants to protect her, is rendered moot by the fact that she has literally nowhere to go, which he’s aware of. Which brings me to the second unhealthy aspect of this supposed “romance” Han Yun Xi’s life revolves around Long Fei Ye. Every single thing she does is related to him in some way or other. When he’s not there, she’s thinking of him. When they’re fighting, she’s staring longingly at the door, waiting. When she’s hanging out with her “friends”, she’s only ever doing it so she can get something for him. She’s got nothing and nobody that’s her own, and nowhere to go should he one day get tired of her. She’s completely dependent on his good will. Ever Heard About Communication? Also, I just kept having the feeling that he whistled her to heel whenever he needed her medical skills, then sent her back to her courtyard like some sort of glorified dog. Basically, he was using her. And whenever they had an argument, she was always the one to apologize, even if the only reason she’d made a mistake was because he kept not telling her things. So many times things could have worked out so much better if he’d only just talked to her instead of just retreating into his palace of machismo to plan with his men. Romance Who? Don’t Know Her. You know what else bothered me? It’s that they never fought for each other. Every time he distanced himself from her, she demurely stepped back, and every time she had an issue with him, he turned himself into a wall of ice until the storm was gone. They never talked their issues out, only allowed them to pass and then carried on as if nothing had happened. In the end, I could never believe in that love because they just
never held on to each other. Although it’s true that Yun Xi’s entire life quickly started to revolve around Long Fei Ye, which
not healthy. As for the secondary relationship. Oh wow. I’ve rarely seen anything so blatantly abusive. The girl has been bullying the guy ever since they were children. So of course, he doesn’t want to marry her. Cue her stalking him 24/7, going so far as to drugging him and tying him to his bed so she can sleep with him not in the sex sense but still and, wait for it
tricking him into marrying her. Excuse me while I go combust somewhere. And the worst part of it all is that literally everybody around them thinks it’s normal. Not one of those people steps in, instead laughing at this poor man for being “bossed around” by a girl. A Word to Young People Everywhere Of course, he falls for her anyway. Let it be known to young men everywhere that if a girl stalks and hits and drugs you, she’s definitely the one for you. Now that I think about it, also let it be known to young women everywhere that if a man tells you you belong to him, calls you only when he needs you to do something for him, and never apologizes, then he’s the one for you, too. Deep breaths. Boring Plot-wise, well. I fast-forwarded on all of the politics, the royal harem inner wars, and prince battles—though I did take the time to feel sorry for the crown prince. That wasn’t why I was there. There were one part that I definitely would have loved to see more of, namely the white-haired supersoldiers there was one scene there that was really powerful at the beginning of the show, but the effect of which Legend of Yun Xi tragically failed to ever reproduce over the course of the next 45 episodes. It was certainly an interesting concept, but poorly developed. It was all just so
predictable. Finally, the acting was nothing to fawn over. While Zhang Zhe Han is certainly very handsome, his expression range seems limited to widening his eyes in a threatening way. In fact, his face is so stiff that it feels unnatural to see him smile when it does happen, which isn’t very often, let me tell you. Ju Jing Yi was fine, but her part wasn’t a very emotional one, and her character wasn’t that deep, so there wasn’t that much for her to demonstrate either. In fact, I think Yalkun Merxat was the one who stood out the most, probably because his boyish excitement at seeing his crush and overall playful demeanor was infinitely more endearing and sympathy-inducing than Zhang Zhe Han’s expressionlessness. I mean, I like tall, dark and broody as much as anyone else but there’s such a thing as too much, you know. Why the Love Triangle, Why? Speaking of Yalkun Merxat, I made myself silently suffer through 48 episodes of love triangle but.. I don’t get why he’s in love with her? In fact, I don’t get why Long Fei Ye is in love with her either. I mean, she’s bright and cheerful and puts up with a lot of crap but
she keeps being led around by the nose by literally everyone and their mother, remains horribly submissive to her ungrateful husband, falls into traps left and right, has to be rescued all the time
Even her medical skills aren’t her own, but came from a magical bracelet that has literally no use but to impart her with instant knowledge. Because studying is for losers, obviously. In the end, the production quality might have made up for some of this, but it really didn’t, because it was terrible. I like to think I’m nice enough as an audience, and I don’t have the sharpest eye when it comes to CGI so I’m pretty tolerant, but even I could tell right from episode 1 that the special effects were just bad. It felt like watching those old computer games from the 90s where stuff would go through walls and characters would have the weirdest movements. This was the exact same thing. The sound mixing was absolutely horrible as well. There were two episodes in the first ten where I could hardly hear the awkward and repetitive dialogue since the music was so loud, and it just feels like there wasn’t a single moment of silence after that. The music was mostly dissonant, never matching the scenes, which just killed the atmosphere for pretty much the entire show. All in All

You might have noticed, but Legend of Yun Xi made me a teeny tiny bit angry. I was going to give it two stars because it still had a weird charm and a few cute scenes that helped me suffer through its entirety, but I’ll take one off because it was just so painful to force myself through the second half. Title Legend of Yun Xi Country China Starring Ju Jing Yi, Zhang Zhe Han, Yalkun Merxat Aired 06/25/2018 to 08/15/2018 Number of Episodes 48 Genres Romance My grade ★☆☆☆☆ HistĂłria Atuação/Elenco Musical Voltar a ver Esta resenha pode conter spoilers Since I've loved historical Chinese dramas so far, I tried to look for other high rated or underrated dramas and I came across this one. The reviews were good so I gave it a try and boy, I wasn't disappointed. This drama for me is a story follows Han Yun Xi Jung Jin Yi, a poison doctor who suddenly had to marry the king's subordinate Long Fei Ye Zhang Zhe Han, I think he was a duke in the story just because the king distrusts him and he thinks that him marrying someone ugly would distract him from any political aspirations. She is then given the title of royal consort and even hired by the empress dowager to spy on Fei Ye so basically they didn't like him to be powerful. The story starts from there and sometimes it makes me laugh on how the duke's character is kind of too serious? And like all leads, when the male lead is serious, the female lead usually is optimistic and animated. The start cohabiting and live as a married couple in name and eventually they start to fall for each other. I liked all the other side characters in the story. Sometimes quite annoyed at the 2nd male lead Gu Qi Shao Yalkun Merxat though. He was the kind of second lead that I wouldn't ship with the female lead. He played his character so convincingly that I hated the character, good job. The thing with these kinds of dramas is that politics will always be a major part of a historical drama and that's a fact. The way it's executed however is the most important thing and would be and advantage if executed well. There was a good amount of politics, drama, romance, and comedy in the story and I liked it. I think this fantasy/historical drama did just that. The ending though is a bit confusing. Though there had 2 endings, kind of a choose your own adventure series. The ending raised so many questions after me being sad at what I thought was their had no problems with the cast because they carried out their characters well. I hated who I need to be hated and empathized who I need to empathize. But ohmygod. The leads. Jung Jin Yi and Zhang Zhe Han are OOZING WITH CHEMISTRY. I'm not sure if this was an underrated drama but if it were, please do watch this. They look so good together! Zhang Zhe Han looks like he was made to wear historical costumes. He looks so good in it. I cannot stress enough how great their chemistry was. It really was. MUSICOne of those Chinese dramas where I appreciated the OST. This may be a low budget drama but they definitely did it right. There was recall with the song and I even added the songs in my VALUEDefinitely yes. For their chemistry, yes. And especially for the pretty, pretty Zhang Zhe Han. Love him. Esta resenha foi Ăștil para vocĂȘ?
